Motivational Music Night For the Kids, 5/21

Musical Missionary and The Motivational Edge will be teaming up this summer to design and run innovative programs that bring the gift of music education to underprivileged kids in Miami. To get started on this mission, The Motivational Edge, Musical Missionary, and a number of other education nonprofits are teaming up to throw a fund raiser for our upcoming summer programs.

This cool event will take place Friday, May 21st, at MIA Restaurant and Lounge (20 Biscayne Blvd) across the street from American Airlines Arena.

Some of Miami's best live musicians will be taking the stage to make sure you get your money's worth. On top of that, there will be tasty catered delights, drink specials all night and a complimentary drink ticket. There will also be a silent auction that can land you on the world's largest cruise ship and a raffle that can put you behind the wheel of a Porsche Boxster.

Tickets are $35 and proceeds go towards providing music education to deserving kids who cannot afford it. Get your tickets soon because capacity is limited.

Musical Missionary representing at WMC

Thanks to Lauren Segal from NextAid, I have been invited to sit on two panels during WMC.

The first one is titled "Social Consciousness Through Music" and will be held at the Eden Roc hotel (4525 Collins Ave) on Tuesdsay, March 23rd, at 4pm. Here's what it's all about:

"We are one through music! How are music organizations serving society and how are these global issues affecting the industry? Why is music essential to the progress of culture? Social awareness gurus discuss these topics while explaining how music creates positive transformations in the world we live in."

The second panel is titled "Creative Expressions in Education" and will be held at Ocean Drive Auditorium (1001 Ocean Drive) on Saturday, March 27th, at noon. The motivation for this panel is as follows:

"Education is an ornament in prosperity and a refuge in adversity”- Aristotle. Why are the Arts important to child development and how are interdisciplinary approaches beneficial? How does funding affect the quality of education in the Arts? Don’t miss this round table session with community leaders, educators and local artists!"

Both panels are open to the general public, so if you're interested in any of these topics, come on out and share your insights and opinions. Copious amounts of partying will follow!

Sunday School for the Generous a Success

We did it!! The rain cleared up exactly when weather.com said it would so we were only delayed one hour. Once the skies cleared, we fired up the Dynacord Cobra rig outside and got to work raising money for Haiti. At the end of the night, we had raised $1,965 at the door which was donated to Doctors Without Borders. And that was just what we made at the door. I'm still waiting to hear what the bar made, 25% of which The Electric Pickle will also donate to Doctors Without Borders, so that should be a substantial addition.

**** EDIT **** I just got word that the bar did $3,073 which translates into an extra $768 (25%) donated by The Electric Pickle, which brings the grand total raised by Sunday School for the Generous to $2,733!!!

I would like to thank all the DJs who played: Oscar G, Ivano Bellini, Stryke, Lazaro Casanova, Will Renuart, Sebastian Cariaga, Jason Baez, Joaquin Estevez, Riotgear, Sire Esq, Lumin, A-train, Omar Suardy, Edwin Adams and Jeremy Ismael.

I would also like to thank Greg Beaty at Extreme Pro Sound for donating the awesome Dynacord Cobra rig outside and the gastroPod Airstream food trailer for setting up shop at our party. Big thanks also go out to my wife and friend Scott Ziegler for helping out in general. And thank to The Electric Pickle for providing the venue for this party and donating 25% of bar proceeds to the cause. Oh yeah, and thanks to Danny Tenaglia for donating a $100 bill on his way out!

Sunday School for the Generous, a benefit for Haitian Relief

Here's one more way to collect some love for the unfortunate victims of the earthquake in Haiti, and have some fun at the same time. A door donation of $10 will get you into this all day party and 100% of that will go to Doctors Without Borders for their Haitian relief efforts. The Electric Pickle will also offer all-day drink specials and contribute 25% of all bar sales to the relief fund.

Musical Missionary, born again

Here we go again! This time there's a lot more to Musical Missionary than before. It feels like all of my past lives are coming together in a synergistic way. Musical Missionary was always intended to be a force for good, and now it finally is.

In the past, Musical Missionary has acted as a music label, party promoter and philanthropist, but never all at the same time. Well it has all finally come together. Label... check! Parties... coming soon! Philanthropy... just getting started!

On that note, I'd like to (re)introduce Musical Missionary...
